We have an opening for a highly motivated postdoc to join the research laboratory of Dr Gary Steinberg in the Dept of Neurosurgery, Stanford University to study Moyamoya Disease. Using genetic, biological, and omic approaches, the successful candidates will use patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to study the molecular mechanisms of Moyamoya Disease.

Applicant qualifications:

  • The applicant must have a PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant subject area (e.g. neuroscience, immunology, biochemistry).
  • Be self-motivated, have good communication skills (both oral and written), and the ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with a team.
  • Expertise cell culture is required.
  • Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and differentiation in to endothelial and vascular smooth muscle cells, plus organoid generation is highly desirable.
  • Experience in bioinformatics (e.g. RNAseq), molecular biology, qPCR, or flow cytometry would be an asset.
