The Voigts Lab at HHMI Janelia is looking for a Postdoctoral Associate to lead a project investigating the neural mechanisms by which rodents use internal models of the world to guide decisions. The lab combines cutting-edge experiments that leverage naturalistic behavior, large-scale electrophysiology, and quantitative methods. Learn more about our work here

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design complex naturalistic animal behavior experiments, using theoretical and numerical methods.

  • Explore and analyze neural data with data science and machine learning methods.

  • Participate in collaborative projects with computational and theoretical researchers.



  • Ph.D. degree in any STEM discipline

Skills and Abilities:

  • Programming, preferentially some familiarity with Python or Matlab

  • Experience working with rodents (optional)

  • Experience with neural recordings (ephys or imaging) or other neural techniques (optional)

  • Ability to work collaboratively

Physical Requirements:

Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet).

An Associate 00 is compensated at a rate of $74,200.00 annually at HHMI's Janelia Research Campus.
