The Department of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for an open-rank faculty position in the area of Cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience beginning July 1, 2024.

We seek applicants who study cognition and its neural and/or computational mechanisms. Specific topics of research can address any area of cognitive psychology or cognitive neuroscience that will add to or complement our existing research specializations in action, attention, learning, memory, and decision making. We are interested in applicants whose research uses neuroimaging or computational methodologies; benefits the diverse populations of Southern California; makes connections between human and animal perspectives of cognition; and/or makes connections with the Behavioral Neuroscience, Developmental, and/or Social and Personality areas of the Department.

Applicants should be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education and interested in teaching courses in cognition (e.g., perception, language), cognitive neuroscience, and quantitative/computational methods at the undergraduate and graduate level. We encourage applicants to familiarize themselves with the demographics of the student body at the University of California, Riverside and highlight synergies with the applicant’s research and teaching goals.

The Department of Psychology is committed to addressing systemic and institutional barriers faced by underrepresented scholars and researchers. We strongly encourage applicants who represent and/or conduct research in ethnic and racial communities that remain severely underrepresented in psychological science (e.g., Black/African/African American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders) to apply.

A Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience or a related discipline is required at the time of appointment. Relevant postdoctoral experience and significant publications are expected for senior applicants.
