The University of Missouri (MU) seeks applications and nominations for outstanding faculty candidates with a focus on Neuroscience. This appointment is part of MizzouForward, the most important strategic investment to achieve research excellence and student success in the history of the university. This initiative will leverage existing institutional strengths and address national health and scientific priority areas through innovation and collaboration. Successful candidates will have outstanding, competitive, externally funded research programs in any area of neuroscience including, but not limited to, cellular and molecular, cognitive and behavioral, biomedical, computational, social, translational, cultural or systems neuroscience. Positions are available in all units across campus and joint appointments between multiple departments are possible.

The centerpiece of our renewed focus on research excellence involves the Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health building. This state-of-the-art facility is available to all UM System researchers. It is located adjacent to the MU Health Care and Truman VA hospitals. As part of the statewide initiative, this world-class facility brings expert health researchers and clinicians together in search of solutions to the world’s greatest health challenges. The building provides the facilities and resources needed to integrate multidisciplinary research with advanced analytical instrumentation, computational processing, and pilot-scale manufacturing to create a comprehensive precision health pipeline that encompasses the entire university system.

The University has partnered with ThermoFisher Scientific, Inc. in a $27M expansion of the electron microscopy core facility that is housed in the NextGen building and provides world-class characterization resources for interdisciplinary researchers. In addition, a strategic partnership between Siemens Healthineers and the University will provide state of the art instrumentation, including a 7T Terra MRI for conducting basic and clinical research. Also housed in the NextGen building is a class 1000 cleanroom allowing biofabrication and manufacturing capabilities. The University of Missouri also operates a 10 MW research reactor (MURR) – the most powerful on a university campus in North America, as well as the Cognitive Neuroscience Systems (CNS) Core Facility. The CNS Core, established in 2020, provides state-of-art instrumentation – including research dedicated MRI, EEG and TMS systems, and laboratory space for conducting translational cognitive neuroscience research. Further the Bioinformatics and Analytics Core serves as a centralized resource for providing expert bioinformatics, analytical, and data science consulting and analysis solutions for all UM System campuses and their researchers.
