The long-term research goal of the He lab is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms governing experience-dependent plasticity in the central nervous system and how such mechanisms are involved in the etiology of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. The lab uses a broad spectrum of techniques such as in vivo time-lapse structural and functional imaging, confocal and expansion microscopy, genetic molecular manipulation, biochemistry, proteomics, as well as behavioral paradigms, to tackle these questions in the intact neural circuit in physiologically relevant contexts. Successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a NIH-funded study to investigate novel mechanisms underlying activity-dependent proteostasis in neurons. Postdoc fellow salary and benefit will be set commensurate with their experience and qualification according to NIH guidelines. They will also benefit from the thriving and collegial research environment, interdisciplinary collaborations, excellent career development workshops, and state-of-art core research facilities at Georgetown University as well as its Medical Center. More information can be found at https://www.he-lab.org/
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have attained or will soon attain Ph.D. or M.D. degrees in neuroscience, cell biology or related field.
- Candidate should have at least one first author research papers published (or in press) in peer-reviewed journals.
- Candidate with research experience in synaptic transmission, synaptic plasticity, slice physiology, Xenopus genetics, primary neuronal culture, proteomics, and/or in vivo live imaging, is highly encouraged to apply. Excellent communication skills.
Interested candidate please send a brief statement of research (1 page), CV, and contact information of three references to Dr. Haiyan He (hh772@georgetown.edu).
