Position Summary: We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying speech and language development and related neural developmental disorders such as autisms. We use the songbird as a model to study the roles of autism genes in neural circuit development, sensitive period plasticity and vocal communication behavior, taking advantage of the vocal behavior and the experimentally accessible underlying neural circuitry of the zebra finch. The project employs an integrative approach involving epigenetic regulation of gene expression, CRISPR viral manipulation of neural circuits, imaging of neuronal dendrites and synapses, and vocal behavioral analysis in the zebra finch.

We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with a recent PhD in molecular neuroscience or related fields to join our team. Broad experiences in molecular cloning, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, microscope imaging, Western blot, qRT-PCR, and animal behavior analysis are highly desirable. Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills are desirable.

If interested, please send CV (including publications), a brief description of your research interest, experience, and contact information of three references to Dr. Li by email: xli4@lsuhsc.edu.

Compensation includes NIH scale salary, access to institutional housing, and full benefits. LSU Health School of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity Employer for females, minorities, individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
