Position summary:  The Caras Lab at the University of Maryland College Park is seeking a highly motivated applicant to join our team as a full-time research technician. The successful candidate will use a variety of techniques (optogenetics, chemogenetics, fiber photometry, in vivo electrophysiology) to reveal the neural circuits involved in auditory perception, plasticity, and learning. This 2-year position is ideal for someone looking to gain additional research experience before applying to graduate school or medical school. Educational requirements: Applicants should possess a B.S. or B.A. in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology, Engineering, or a related field. All interested candidates should be highly organized, detail oriented, possess excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a team environment, and be comfortable handling and caring for small animals. 

Qualifications and experience: Preference will be given to applicants with experience in animal behavior, stereotaxic surgery, or any of the techniques listed above.
