The National Institute on Aging’s (NIA) most valuable asset is its dedicated and knowledgeable staff. Come join us in our mission to promote research on aging. NIA leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. NIA is the primary federal agency supporting and conducting Alzheimer's disease research. NIA is looking for scientists to develop and administrator research to combat age-related conditions to promote health longevity.

Position duties include:

  • Developing, expanding, and overseeing programs, performing computational research, and managing clinical trial portfolios. Collaborating with other NIA Divisions to address common research challenges. Devising programs, overseeing applications and awards, and interacting with the scientific community at meetings and workshops and participating in the NIA and NIH.

Requirements

  • Education Requirement:
    • Health Scientist Administrator: A degree (preferably a Ph.D. or equivalent) in health or pertinent sciences (i.e., neuroscience, biology, genomics, etc.) allied to health, health related research.
    • Social and Behavioral and Scientist Administrator: A degree (preferably a Ph.D. or equivalent) in behavioral or social sciences, or related disciplines appropriate to this position.
  • Recognizable accomplishment and career progression in a research activity related to health or biomedical/behavioral sciences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, to plan, initiate, administer, and evaluate a scientific program successfully.
  • Familiarity with the dynamics of health-related research.
