The Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR or higher.  We are particularly interested in applicants with a strong record of research productivity, solid expertise in neuropharmacology and a commitment to collaborative research endeavors. The ideal candidate’s research program will complement existing research strengths in the department which include addiction, epilepsy, neurodegenerative diseases, and traumatic brain/spinal cord injuries. The department is located in a modern research facility with a state-of-the-art vivarium that includes a behavioral core, small animal fMRI, and imaging core.  The successful candidate with a PhD or MD/PhD degree, is expected to participate in graduate and medical teaching with a focus on pharmacology. The ideal candidate is expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program focused on the integrative analysis of brain/spinal cord circuits at molecular, cellular or systems levels. Approaches can include, but are not restricted to electrophysiology, optogenetic/pharmacogenetic sensors and/or behavioral neurophysiology. The School of Medicine is part of Texas A&M University, a large land-grant research university, rich with core facilities, outstanding library services, an AAALAC accredited animal program, cross-disciplinary graduate training programs, and home to the Texas Institute of Genomic Medicine (TIGM). The research environment is highly collaborative with a thriving, collegial neuroscience community of 70+ faculty organized in the Texas A&M Institute for Neuroscience (TAMIN).  Weekly neuroscience seminars, an interdisciplinary neuroscience graduate program, and an annually research symposium facilitate collaborations with other colleges such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Veterinary School, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.
