This is a full-time research job position. Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent degree from the field of neuroscience, neuropharmacology, neurophysiology, neuroimmunology, or other related biomedical sciences. Candidates are expected to have knowledge, experience, and skill in at least one of the followings: electrophysiology (patch-clamp recording), rodent drug self-administration (or other behavioral studies), or biochemistry/molecular biology/immunohistochemistry.
Research will focus on defining the mechanism underlying alterations in neurons and astrocytes in the comorbidity of substance use disorders (SUD, such as cocaine or methamphetamine abuse), neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s disease and neuroHIV), and aging. Transgenic rodent models of related diseases will be used in these studies.
With the guidance of PI, a qualified candidate needs to be capable to (1) independently conduct research in at least one the related fields described above; (2) perform experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis of data; (3) determine, report, and solve research-related problems; and (4) communicate with colleagues in English (i.e., oral reporting for discussion of outcomes, writing for constructing scientific manuscripts, and presenting novel findings at scientific meetings). Applicants with a Master of Science (MS) degree and at least one year of experience in performing patch-clamp recording, rodent drug self-administration, or IHC are also encouraged to apply.
