A Postdoctoral Scholar position in the areas of Neuroscience & Epilepsy Research is available in the laboratory of Dr. Amy Brooks-Kayal at the Department of Neurology, University of California, Davis, for working on the NINDS-funded project on “The STAT3 response of excitatory neurons to epileptogenic brain injury”. This collaborative project, with the laboratories of Dr. Marco I. Gonzalez in the Department of Neurology at Davis and Dr. Shelley Russek at the University of Boston, investigates the role of activation of the neuronal JAK/STAT pathway during brain inflammation and excitability using mouse models, that include transgenic mice where classical STAT3 signaling is selectively knocked out in excitatory neurons. These studies include a combination of approaches that include transcriptomics, genomics, and functional studies aimed to identifying potential disease-modifying therapies.
