Postdoctoral Position at The Ohio State University

An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is immediately available in Dr. Yin Ren’s laboratory in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University. As a surgeon-scientist, our laboratory is highly translational and we are looking for a highly motivated post-doc to work on projects investigating novel biomarkers and therapeutics for vestibular schwannomas and meningiomas. Our laboratory focuses on a variety of research topics related to protease-based biomarkers, nanotechnology for tumor diagnostics and targeting, tumor immunology, and translational research to improve surgical outcomes. In addition, we are interested in developing novel gene therapy approaches for the treatment of a variety of disorders that cause hearing loss, including tumor-associated, noise-induced, and chemotherapy-related sensorineural hearing loss. https://medicine.osu.edu/find-faculty/clinical/otolaryngology/yin-ren-md-phd

Responsibilities include:

  • Human cell culture and primary tumor collection and culture
  • In vitro cell proliferation, viability, RNA and protein expression, ELISA, flow cytometry and other molecular biology techniques
  • Generation and maintenance of human and mouse tumor cell lines
  • Animal handling, injection, survival surgery, and tissue harvesting in xenograft models of schwannomas and meningiomas in mice
  • CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and RNAi
  • Spatial transcriptomics
  • Confocal microscopy and histology

The successful candidate will be a recent or soon-to-graduate PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, nanotechnology, hearing science, cancer biology or related fiends. Applicants from non-bioengineering and non-hearing neuroscience fields are also welcome. The applicant should be highly motivated, independent and productive. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team are required. Experience in nanotechnology, drug delivery, animal models of cancer and tumor biology preferred, but not required.

Salary and benefits are consistent with NIH guidelines and university policies based on applicant’s experience.
