Postdoctoral fellowship in circuit mechanisms of emotional brain plasticity

A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the laboratory of Dr. Roger Clem. The overarching purpose of our research program is to elucidate the circuit and synaptic mechanisms underlying behavioral plasticity. In particular, we are interested in the organization of neural circuits in the mouse that support aversive and appetitive emotional responses, and how they change as a function of 1. development, 2. stress, and 3. learning. Toward this end we utilize a complementary set of approaches including anatomical tracing, whole-cell electrophysiology, in vivo optogenetics, fiber photometry and miniscope imaging. Funded opportunities are available to explore how experience modulates discrete cell types and stimulus-specific neural ensembles, and how these these populations to conditioned and unconditioned emotional behavior.
