Summary of Position
The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture (COLSA) at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for a tenure-track position Assistant Professor of Neuroscience and Behavior. We seek applicants with lived experiences and/or professional service informed by worldviews and/or perspectives about minority group status including race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and disability and who are committed to work in and foster a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment at UNH. The position is intended to support our research, teaching, and scholarship in our Neuroscience and Behavior Program at the graduate and undergraduate levels. While we are open to future faculty members performing research in basic and/or disease-related mechanisms in any model (specific areas including but are not limited to pain, sensory processing, perception, cognition, neurogenomics, circadian rhythms, animal behavior, etc.), we would be especially enthusiastic to consider applications from those using a model system that dovetails with our current departmental strengths (i.e., non-mammalian organisms). Although the primary appointment for this position is in the Department of Biological Sciences, the faculty member is expected to synergize with investigators located in other departments including Psychology; Molecular, Cellular and Biomedical Sciences; and Communication Sciences and Disorders. The successful candidate will teach foundational and advanced courses in neuroscience, biology, and behavior, will maintain a high-impact externally-funded research program, train graduate students, mentor undergraduates, perform significant departmental service, and contribute to UNH’s broader research enterprise.

We are particularly interested in candidates who will develop new opportunities for exchange with other research institutions, domestic or abroad, to strengthen UNH’s national and international profile as a leader in neuroscience and behavior. The faculty member will be expected to develop a nationally known extramurally funded research program that would leverage UNH’s state-of-the art research infrastructure, including the new 132,000 ft2 Spaulding Complex, University Instrumentation Center, Research Computing Center, and Hubbard Center for Genome Studies..

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. or equivalent in psychobiology, molecular biology, genetics, neuroscience, or a related field. Applicants must have a strong publication record, demonstrated grantsmanship skills, and instructional experience commensurate with early-stage investigator that can fulfill the academic needs of the Department of Biological Sciences. Applicants should demonstrate an ability to provide vibrant, high-quality instruction to undergraduates and/or graduate students.

Salary Information
