The Neuroscience Institute (NSI) at JFK University Medical Center in Edison New Jersey, part of the Hackensack Meridian Health Network, invites applications from outstanding neuroscientists for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

We seek a basic scientist working in Parkinson’s Disease and related movement disorders, focusing on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of disease, and utilizing in vitro and/or small animal models.

Current basic research strengths at NSI include molecular, cellular and systems level studies of traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, RNA biology, age-related neurodegeneration, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Shared research facilities include a flow cytometry suite, microscopy and imaging suite including Nikon and Leica confocal and wide field fluorescence microscopes, mass spectrometry facility, genomics and epigenomics shared resources including next generation targeted sequencing facility, histology facility and a rodent behavioral suite.

The clinical facilities at NSI, including adult and pediatric neurology, neurosurgery, and neuropsychology, are located immediately adjacent to the research division. Current clinical strengths include neurological and neurosurgical approaches to brain tumors, stroke, sleep disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, neuro-ophthalmology, and neuro-otology. The Institute fosters and encourages collegial interactions between bench and clinical practitioners, affording scientists the opportunity to conduct translational research projects. Applicants with research programs that include such translational approaches are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D. and/or D.Sc. degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral research experience. Desired applicants should have a strong record of scholarship and a commitment to translational efforts bridging basic science discoveries with clinical applications. An established track record of participating in multidisciplinary team-based collaboration is a plus.
