The Neuroscience Program at Carleton College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Neuroscience, with a Neurobiology focus. We seek candidates with a strong interest in teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment and a PhD in Neuroscience or a closely related field completed by the start date, which will be September 1, 2023. Responsibilities will include team-teaching in the Neuroscience core curriculum at the 100- and 200-levels, a 300-level Neurobiology course, and a seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise. The four-course teaching load will be distributed over three of Carleton’s ten-week terms (Winter, Spring, Fall), starting January 2024 and continuing through November 2024, with the possibility of extending the position into Winter and/or Spring of 2025. Office space and shared research facilities will be available. Opportunities to involve undergraduate students in research may be available, including during summer 2024, but offering student research is not required for this position. We will prioritize applicants who are interested in teaching for all three terms, but will consider applications for two-term appointments as well. This position is eligible for benefits, and will receive mentoring from senior Neuroscience faculty and through Carleton’s Perlman Center for Learning and Teaching.
