Full-time graduate student and postdoctoral fellowships in systems neuroscience.

Positions as Graduate students and Postdoctoral Fellows in Neuroscience are now open for outstanding candidates to conduct research in the field of neural systems functions at the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience at the University of Lethbridge, located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Our goal is to understand the cellular and brain system mechanisms of memory in healthy brain and memory disorders associated with aging and brain diseases and damge. Brain regions to be investigated include frontal and parietal cortex and hippocampus, with a view to achieving a systems level picture of how these brain networks work together dynamically to encode, store, and retrieve behaviourally useful information. This research will be supported by state-of-the-art facilities in the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience, including advanced two-photon imaging, voltage sensitive dye imaging, and high-density multi-unit electrophysiological recording and optogenetic techniques.


The project is a collaborative effort between the research groups of Majid Mohajerani and Robert Sutherland. Successful candidates will join the highly collaborative and interdisciplinary Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience ( and Brain Dynamics group (, which has outstanding research strengths in the areas of learning and memory, decision-making, information coding and related diseases such as Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, addiction and stroke. Salary scales will be competitive with NIH standards for pre- a d postdoctoral researchers.
