The College of Science and Mathematics at Augusta University invites applications for 3 tenure-track positions in Neuroscience, all to begin in Fall 2023. The College anticipates approval of a new interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience to accompany a growing university-wide research initiative in this area (Transdisciplinary Research Initiative in Inflammaging and Brain Aging https://www.augusta.edu/research/triba/) and an existing PhD program in Neuroscience. All candidates must have a Doctorate in a discipline represented within the college; postdoctoral research experience; and a publication record commensurate with their career stage. Candidates for Professor or Associate Professor should have a distinguished record of teaching and research to include peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding. The field of research within Neuroscience is open with an expectation that candidates will establish a vibrant and fundable research program that demonstrates originality in addressing significant questions. Successful applicants will have a commitment to teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.

Required Qualifications

Required:

Doctorate in biology, chemistry, neuroscience, physics, or related field from an accredited institution; postdoctoral research experience

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Per Board of Regents (BOR) policy, Professors must have a terminal degree

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

• Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

• Evidence of ability as a teacher;

• Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

• Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

• Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Grant writing experience; teaching experience; administrative or leadership experience

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
