The Department of Psychology at Seton Hall University (www.shu.edu/psychology) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Behavioral or Cognitive Neuroscience (broadly defined) to start August 15, 2023. The successful candidate will have the skill to develop and teach courses within their area of expertise, as well as contribute to core courses within the psychology major and potential interdisciplinary programs. The candidate will be expected to establish a line of neuroscience research with either human participants or non-human subjects that can involve undergraduate student researchers.

About the Department
Faculty in the Psychology Department have diverse basic and applied research interests and value high quality teaching and substantive service. The Department has approximately 350 psychology majors and offers BA and BS degrees as well as a minor. Coursework emphasizes scientific thinking, a broad range of basic, applied, and laboratory classes, and experiential learning. We are a highly collegial department of 12 full-time faculty members with a strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Many faculty have active collaborations with colleagues in other departments at Seton Hall, including those in the School of Health and Medical Sciences, as well as collaborations with regional clinical and research facilities. Our location in the greater NYC metro area provides additional opportunities for interinstitutional collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include teaching 3 undergraduate courses per semester, maintaining an active research program, and contributing to service at various levels (department, college, university, and profession). The specific courses will vary based on a combination of instructor specialization and departmental needs.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field such as Neuroscience (ABD candidates may be considered depending on experience, but the degree must be complete at the time of appointment).

• Evidence of an active research program with the potential for involvement of student research assistants.

• Commitment to engaging with a diverse study body.

Desired Qualifications:

• College-level teaching experience.

• Openness to teaching in various formats (e.g., larger lectures, small courses, online, face-to-face).
