The Garraway Lab, Dept. of Cell Biology, Emory University School of Medicine, is actively seeking a motivated post-doctoral fellow. The lab is focused on understanding the cellular and neural mechanisms underlying pain and other pathophysiology after spinal cord injury. Areas of specific interest include peripheral BDNF-TrkB signaling, systemic inflammation and sympathetic contributions to sensory dysfunction after SCI. We are looking for a candidate with general interest in spinal cord injury, who will examine peripheral and spinal interactions that drive pain hypersensitivity. The candidate will be expected to conduct experiments, write abstracts, and present at regional meetings and write manuscripts for publication. He/she will also be encouraged to submit fellowship and grant proposals.

Job Duties. The primary duty is to perform experiments to achieve the goal of the project.

The candidate will use behavioral assessments, molecular and cellular approaches and/or in vitro electrophysiology to accomplish the primary objective of the study.

The candidate will also have opportunities to mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute to teaching as desired.

The initial appointment is for one year to be renewed yearly depending on satisfactory progress and availability of funds.
