Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility is to plan and conduct molecular studies to examine alterations in epigenetic and transcriptional profiles in different brain regions following developmental neurotoxicant exposures and evaluate how these biological effects relate to the expression of cognitive and behavioral deficits in adulthood.
  • Responsible for animal handling and working with animal tissues.
  • Participate as needed in studies examining rodent behavioral responses.
  • Maintain laboratory records in compliance with University and government guidelines and regulations.
  • Participate in the identification of new research projects and research directions.

Qualifications:

  • Training and experience in molecular biology, epigenetics, and neuroscience.
  • Expertise in protein, DNA and mRNA extractions; experience with performing RNA-seq studies.
  • Expertise in epigenetics (in particular, in methylation studies).
  • Expertise in performing library preparation for sequencing studies and familiarity with bioinformatics  (experience with sequencing studies and in interpreting sequencing data).
  • Expertise in performing Western blotting studies and qRT-PCR studies.
  • Deadline and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline with a strong background in epigenetics/molecular biology.
  • Applicant must be authorized to work in the United States.
