The Chua Laboratory in the Institute for Cell Engineering and Department of Neurology at the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Medicine is recruiting a highly qualified and creative scientist for a postdoctoral fellowship. This fellow will oversee a project using human iPSC-derived neurons to (1) elucidate key regulators of the autophagy pathway, and (2) determine how and why these regulators modify neuronal toxicity in models of multiple neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson disease and BPAN). This is a mentored position in which candidates will plan, design, and perform experiments, manage research projects and laboratory oversight, present at research conferences, and prepare and revise manuscripts and grants for their work.

Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience or other relevant field (or anticipated graduation within the next 3 months). Candidates with a strong background and documented expertise in iPSC culture and differentiation, CRISPR/Cas9 genomic editing, molecular cloning, RT-PCR, protein biochemistry, and advanced microscopy are encouraged to apply. This position is for a minimum of two years with possible extension and career advancement contingent on funding levels and performance. Salary level will adhere to standard pay scales for the NIH.
