Lab Operations Manager – JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW:

 

The Lab Operations Manager will perform all the duties of the Project Manager including facilitating project planning and scheduling, including working with the VP, Translational Neuroscience and Project Leaders to develop timelines and follow the progression of projects to assure the schedule remains on time. The Lab Ops Manager will assist the VP, Translational Neuroscience and Project Leaders with the production of deliverables and with the scheduling of company resources and some staff members. In addition, the Lab Operations Manager will have regular communications (daily) with the VP, Translational Neuroscience and will actively coordinate the directives of the VP, Translational Neuroscience.

 

 

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Help manage the various projects/studies of the team, which includes working with VP, Project Leaders, and clients to coordinate the project plan, coordinating appropriate resources evenly and fairly across various projects/studies, scheduling to keep projects moving forward and on time, checking in to get project updates/milestones/deliverables, assisting with removing obstacles that may be hindering progress, updating the appropriate parties, which includes the VP, with study updates on a regular basis. Communicate, document and archive team activities, risks, milestones, deliverables, and decisions. Works hand in hand with the VP to manage clients and personnel and assists the VP to problem solve all aspects of running the team, keeping the VP informed along the way. Write/edit SOW’s and regulatory documents along with the VP and other Team members. Work in partnership with Project Leaders to develop and identify risks and opportunities and to execute on project plans and strategies. Ensure alignment with all project teams. Actively facilitate project team meetings (including the preparation of meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up on action items when needed), cross-functional communication and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders. In conjunction with the VP, prepare routine and ad hoc project status/dashboard reports and maintain project team data repositories. Participate in implementing improvements to project management processes and tools. Help facilitate and prepare project deliverables, budget, and timelines for delivery to executive management.

 

 

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological discipline required, PhD preferred, ideally in neuroscience or pharmacology. Minimum of 5 years of multi-disciplinary experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, or experience in a preclinical or contract research organization. Minimum of 2 years of project management experience preferred. Experience with project management software to manage complex project timelines and resources. Strong proficiency with project management practices, tools and methodology and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities and priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Ability to build and maintain trusting/honest relationships with all team members and clients. Demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interact with all levels of employees and work effectively as a member of the team; being a positive influence on the team.
