Magnetic Resonance (MR) Safety Officer

An MR Safety Officer position is offered for the MR Platform of Columbia University’s Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute in the City of New York. This is a full-time position for a PhD level physicist or engineer with a background and interest in working with teams of scientists and MRI specialists, veterinarians and review boards to assure safe and effective MRI- based research. Training new MR system users in MR safety and lab policy, and overseeing the screening of MR research participants are also components of this position. Familiarity with IEC, ICNRP, FDA, ACR, CE and PHS regulations and guidelines for MR safety is necessary.  Experience with numerical modeling of electromagnetic and thermodynamic losses and heating in anatomy is also a requirement for both understanding and educating on the causal factors most influencing MR safety.  Competitive salary is commensurate with experience.
