We are pleased to announce that the Price Family Center for the Social Brain at The Rockefeller University is seeking independent group leaders at the rank of Research Assistant Professor in the domains of computational neuroscience and biomedical engineering.  Price Center Research Assistant Professors will head the new Technology Hub, a core component of the Center, that will drive key technological and computational innovations essential to advance our understanding of the neural basis for social behavior.

The Price Family Center for the Social Brain at The Rockefeller University was recently launched as an ambitious interdisciplinary effort to dissect the neural, cognitive, and computational foundations of social behavior. The Technology Hub will focus on developing innovative technologies to dissect the neural and behavioral algorithms of social behavior including methods for real-time animal behavioral tracking, virtual reality paradigms to control and manipulate social behavior, closed-loop experimental designs, as well as interfacing with advanced experimental capabilities in recording and manipulating large numbers of neurons, and developing computational techniques for data analysis, interpretation, and modeling. The Hub will work closely with experimental laboratories at the Center, which use a wide range of model systems from ants to humans, with the goal to yield general insights into the neural basis of sociality.

We are looking for highly talented individuals with post-doctoral training in computational neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or related fields to develop and head these computational and engineering research efforts and excited about contributing to highly collaborative and innovative neuroscience, the challenge to understand complex brain functions, and take an active part in shaping the content and character of the new Center for the Social Brain.

Price Center Research Assistant Professor positions are fully endowed and offer generous long-term support, thus allowing for highly ambitious research programs to be conducted that are difficult to realize in traditional tenure track settings. Price Center Research Assistant Professors will head independent research groups, have the opportunity to engage in the immense collaborative opportunities within the strong neuroscience community of The Rockefeller University, to apply for additional external funding, and to present research findings and independently publish.

Interested individuals should send their CV, a statement of interest and vision of how they may contribute to the Center, and the names of three references to socialbrain@rockefeller.edu.
