Job Details

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Stephanie Sillivan in the Center for Substance Abuse Research (CSAR) at Temple University (Lewis Katz School of Medicine) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Our laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms that promote drug seeking, sustain drug craving after abstinence and influence susceptibility to relapse. A major emphasis of the lab is determining noncoding RNA and inflammatory pathways that mediate opioid seeking in rodents. We utilize a combination of behavioral (self-administration, stress, anxiety tests), biochemical (cell fractionation, western blot, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, chromatin immuneprecipitation) and molecular (RNA sequencing, mass spectrometry, qpcr) techniques. We also employ in vivo manipulation (viral-based, synthetic inhibitors, siRNA) of candidate pathways intracerebrally in rodent models to link molecular neuroadaptations to functional behavioral analyses.

For this position we are seeking a highly-motivated candidate with experience in behavioral and molecular neuroscience to lead a NIDA-funded project investigating molecular mechanisms of drug seeking.  The successful candidate will join a highly interactive neuroscience community in Philadelphia and will work as part of a team that includes members of other laboratories in CSAR and the Department of Neural Sciences.

A recent Ph.D. degree in either neuroscience or pharmacology is preferred. Candidates that are within 6 months of completion of their PhD are also eligible to apply. Submit a curriculum vitae and contact information for references to Stephanie Sillivan, Ph.D., stephanie.sillivan@temple.edu.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, laboratory experience, and institutional guidelines.
