Research programs of interest include, but are not limited to biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, neuroscience, cell and developmental biology, genomics, epigenetics, evolution, regeneration, quantitative biology, and synthetic biology. Our interests run the gamut of experimental organisms and approaches.

Investigator positions at the Stowers Institute are exceptional in that they are fully funded. Funding includes salary, lab, and core expenses throughout the candidate’s appointment. The Institute also provides additional funds for ongoing equipment needs. For an Assistant Investigator position this includes $600,000 per year for research funding in addition to start-up funds. The Institute offers an initial appointment of 7 years, subject to renewal every 6 to 7 years. The total package for an Assistant Investigator position is more than $4.2 million over the first term, which increases significantly after each promotion. Additionally, the Stowers Institute offers numerous opportunities for faculty development in our Graduate School and further training in mentorship.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a groundbreaking, innovative, and independent research program and will benefit from and complement the Institute’s existing strengths in genetics, developmental/regenerative biology, evolution, biochemistry, and neuroscience. The candidate will also benefit from exceptional core facilities and technology centers staffed by over 100 scientists, as well as multiple opportunities to be involved in the Institute’s Graduate School program.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent and postdoctoral experience demonstrating innovation and excellence in their field. Candidates are expected to possess a long-term vision of their scientific interests and to actively contribute to the Institute’s mission and collegiality.

The deadline for applications is October 3, 2022. Applicants should submit a cover letter, a CV, a research plan, and vision statement, and arrange for the submission of three reference letters through our application site at: http://www.stowers.org/facultysearch.

Questions should be directed to the Search Committee Chair, Kausik Si, Ph.D., (facultysearch@stowers.org).
