A postdoctoral position is available for collaborative research in the laboratories of Dr. Tim Hanks and Dr. Kim McAllister in the Center for Neuroscience at the University of California, Davis. The position is fully funded for 3+ years. The research is supported by an NIH Conte Center grant focused on neuroimmune mechanisms of psychiatric disorders. Our recently renewed Center aims to identify factors that contribute to risk and resilience to the effects of maternal infection in altering brain development and behavior in offspring. Our project will determine if, and how, dopamine signaling in cortico-striatal circuits in offspring is altered following maternal immune activation in a mouse model using cutting-edge methods including dopamine sensors and optogenetics. As part of the UC Davis Conte Center and Center for Neuroscience, the fellow will work in a highly collaborative environment that involves research connecting molecular to systems to cognitive levels, in mouse, non-human primate, and human model systems.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a neuroscience-related field. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in the following techniques: rodent behavior and surgery, optogenetics or optical measurement of neural activity, and computer programming. Salary is commensurate with the current NIH scale with benefits.

Interested applicants should include a CV and brief cover letter with contact information for three references.

UC Davis is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
