The laboratory of Fuzheng Guo, PhD, at UC Davis School of Medicine and the Institute for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine (IPRM) of Shriners hospitals for Children, Sacramento CA, is seeking two highly self-motivated and creative postdoc researchers for NIH and foundation grants in the lab. Research interest in the Guo lab is glial cell biology and pathology and has centers on the molecular mechanisms of glial cell development, injury, and regeneration in the central nervous system, with a particular focus on CNS myelination, demyelination, and remyelination in demyelinating disorders. The research projects of successful applicants will be fitted with the laboratory interests. For example, one of the positions will be dedicated to studying molecular interventions that promote oligodendrocyte regeneration and myelin repair using mouse models of hypoxia-ischemia-induced neonatal white matter injury.

We seek highly self-motivated creative postdoctoral researchers, particularly those newly graduated for an entry level postdoctoral training. Applicants with prior work experience in animal models of diseases (toxin or inflammation-induced demyelination models, hypoxia-ischemia models) and glial cell characterization are highly encouraged. Expertise in electrophysiological recording of CNS glia or neurons is advantageous since the Guo lab has set up an updated electrophysiology rig.

Very competitive salary and benefits will be provided and commensurate with experience and is above the NIH standards. The position(s) will remain open until filled. Please go to https://www.guo-laboratory.org/ for the lab details.

To apply, interested applicants should forward (1) updated curriculum vitae, (2) research statement, and (3) contact information of 3 references directly to the Principal Investigator, Fuzheng Guo, PhD at fguo.laboratory@gmail.com. Please indicate "Postdoc Application" in the subject line of email applications.

Guo lab is also recruiting a junior specialist (lab technician) through the HR of Shriners Hospitals for Children, Sacramento, CA. Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, Behavior, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Psychology, or a related field is required. The candidates must be authorized to work in the USA (permanent residence or US citizen). The selected junior specialist will participate in the design and implementation of laboratory experimental studies and also be responsible for lab organization and data management. Previous experience with cell culture, rodent handling, molecular biology techniques (PCR, western blot), immunohistochemistry, and electron microscopy are a plus. Applicants should submit a cover letter, an updated curriculum vitae, and contact information of 2 references to fguo.laboratory@gmail.com.
