A Postdoctoral Research Fellow is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Hongmin Wang in the Division of Basic Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Dakota. The projects investigate the molecular mechanisms of neuronal death and neuroprotection using mice and cell culture models.
A PhD with an emphasis in neuroscience, molecular/cellular biology, physiology, molecular pharmacology, or related field is required as well as a willingness to work with animal model systems. Experience in mouse ischemic stroke surgery or neurodegeneration studies is desirable. In addition to research experience (developing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, writing peer-reviewed manuscripts), opportunities for professional development (mentor training, grant writing, etc.) will also be provided.
