Two postdoctoral researcher positions are available in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). We are seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral scholars to study the mechanisms by which age-associated increase of senescent cells contributes to the pathogenesis and progression of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The successful candidates will investigate how senescent glial cells affect neuroinflammation and AD progression using cellular/molecular neurobiological, neuropathological, confocal microscopic techniques, and AD animal models. The selected candidates will also participate in evaluating the therapeutic potentials of novel senolytic agents to selectively eliminate senescent cells using both in vitro and in vivo models of AD. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in neurobiology, neuroscience, or other related fields. Previous experience with AD research and confocal microscopy is preferred but not required. Interested applicants should send a CV, a cover letter describing your research experience/interests/future career goals, and the contact information for three references to Dr. Gavin Wang at wangy@musc.edu. Competitive salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
