The Schaeffer Laboratory in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to work in the field of marmoset neuroscience, employing multimodal methods (including focused ultrasound, MRI, PET/CT) to study the developmental trajectory of circuits supporting social and cognitive function in marmoset monkeys.
The laboratory is housed in a brand-new, state-of-the-art neuroimaging facility complete with a 9.4 Tesla MRI, focused ultrasound, small-bore PET/CT, electrophysiology, optical imaging (2-photon, widefield), behavioral assays, and the means to conduct histology. This suite of instruments has been fitted for marmoset-specific use and is dedicated to imaging (fully awake) marmosets.
In this highly collaborative environment, the successful candidate is expected to take a supporting role in supervising ongoing NIH-funded research projects and develop independent projects focused on mapping social and cognitive function in the marmoset. They will regularly interact with the growing community of neuroscience researchers at the University of Pittsburgh.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related field. Applicants must have demonstrated skill in neuroimaging and data analysis, with a preference for those with experience in MRI and/or focused ultrasound. Experience with nonhuman primates or rodents is preferred, but not required. Candidates must be able to work in the United States.
