Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

The Haptics Lab is offering multiple post-doctoral fellowships to study neural mechanisms underlying object sensing and manipulation with the hands using a cross-species approach (non-human primates, humans, and/or mice).  The positions will focus on studying, but not limited to:

  1. Neural integration mechanisms between proprioceptive and tactile sensory signals that underlie coordinate transforms of touch perception
  2. Thalamo-cortical neural mechanisms underlying suppression of distracting information Our lab uses cutting-edge electrophysiological (e.g., Neuropixels), imaging (e.g., 1-photon and 2-photon calcium imaging, and fMRI), and causal methods (e.g., optogenetics). We also perform psychophysical studies in humans using virtual reality (VR). There are ample opportunities to engage in computational work through our strong collaborative ties with senior computational colleagues. More information about our lab can be found at: https://www.haptics-lab.org/.

Previous experience in animal research is not required

Candidates will also have the opportunity to engage in mentoring students, and get involved in enhancing diversity efforts through programs that our department funds (for more information visit: https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/del-monte-neuroscience/about/diversity-commission/news-announcements.aspx).

We offer highly competitive salaries, and end-of-year performance bonuses. If interested, please reach out to Dr. Manuel Gomez-Ramirez (Manny) at: mgomezra@ur.rochester.edu or (@gomezramirezm, twitter).
