Description:
Two NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are immediately available in Dr. Shinghua Ding’s lab in Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center (DCRC) at University of Missouri-Columbia.
The lab focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neural degeneration in neurological diseases including stroke and genetic diseases. The lab uses both in vitro and in vivo models and state-of-the art technologies including cell-type specific molecular genetics (i.e., transgenic mice and viral transduction), in vivo two-photon imaging, electrophysiology, RNA-seq, metabolomics, iPSCs, CRISPR/Cas9, biochemical assays, behavioral tests, etc.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in neuroscience, physiology, cell/molecular biology, or a related field. One position requires strong experience in electrophysiology (patch-clamp and field potential recording) and/or in vivo two-photon imaging of brain cells. The other position requires experience in cellular and molecular neuroscience, molecular biology, transgenic mouse model. Experience in stroke and other neural diseases is highly desired, but not required.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least two references to: dings@missouri.edu.
The University of Missouri-Columbia, a Nobel prize winning university, is the flagship campus of the four-campus University of Missouri System and is considered one of the nation's top-tier institutions with a reputation of excellence in teaching and research. It is one of only 34 public universities selected for membership in the Association of American Universities (AAU). Postdoctoral fellows will be offered competitive salaries and benefits.
