Job Details

Associate Research Scientist

Yale School of Medicine

The Vision Core at Yale University School of Medicine invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist position in developing molecular methods for visual neuroscience applications.  Investigators in the Vision Core are broadly interested in manipulating specific cell types of the retina and brain in order to enhance our understanding of the development and function of the visual system and disorders that cause blindness.

We seek a highly motivated individual to interface with investigators in the vision research community at Yale and to design and produce genetic tools for innovative neuroscience research.  This will include manipulating and optimizing viral technologies (such as Adeno-associated virus) with an emphasis on the highest standards of quality control.  The candidate would interact with laboratory researchers across a range of groups and would be comfortable directing laboratory staff.  There would be the opportunity to collaborate on projects at the cutting edge of visual neuroscience research.

Qualifications:  The ideal candidate would be a Ph.D.-level professional with a background in neuroscience, genetics, cell biology, or a related field.  Requirements include experience in advanced molecular biology and superb communication and interpersonal skills.  Familiarity with mouse models (including breeding and genotyping strategies) and neuroscience methodology (including immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology, functional imaging, and behavioral tests) would be a plus.  Prior experience in a core-facility setting would be beneficial.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Please submit a cover letter, a current curriculum vita, and three references.  All application materials should be submitted electronically to: http://apply.interfolio.com/106220
