Postdoctoral Researcher

The Auditory Development and Connectomics Laboratory (https://spiroulabadcl.com/), headed by Dr. George Spirou, in the Department of Medical Engineering, is advertising to hire a postdoctoral researcher. The post-doctoral research scholar will pursue studies in developmental neuroscience. Our approach is wholistic, treating neural circuit formation as a transformation in whole-tissue structure and function of neurons, glia, and vascular cells. This person will utilize optical (2-photon Ca2+ imaging, optogenetics) and electrophysiological methods to manipulate and monitor multiple cells and cell types simultaneously at perinatal ages to study communication among all cell types underlying the formation of the calyx of Held, the largest nerve terminal in the mammalian brain.
