Responsibilities

The Department of Psychology at Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin in August 2022. We are seeking someone who can teach various courses in the area of Biopsychology or Neuroscience. Duties will consist of teaching 3 undergraduate courses per semester and may include: Biological Bases of Behavior, Biopsychology, Introduction to Psychology, and Research Methods & Statistics. The ability to teach Drugs & Behavior, Sensation & Perception, Learning, and/or Psychology of Gender is desirable. As the second-largest major in the College, we are seeking a colleague with demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to serving a diverse student population.

This is a one-year visiting appointment with the possibility of renewal.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in Biopsychology or Neuroscience from an accredited college/university or have ABD status. A candidate with ABD status would be considered at the Instructor rank until the PhD has been completed.

In addition, Psychology and Biology faculty participate in the interdisciplinary Neuroscience program, which has more than 100 majors.
