Tenure-Track Faculty Position

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care and Pain Medicine and the Neuroscience Institute at NYU Langone Health invite applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor) or tenured Full Professor. We are searching for scholars who are interested in establishing a high impact research program using innovative approaches to study central mechanisms of anesthesia, pain or cognition, to join our dynamic and collaborative community.

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care and Pain Medicine and the Neuroscience Institute encompass an outstanding, interactive group of researchers that cumulatively investigate development, genetics, molecular and cellular neurobiology, sensation, perception, cognition, pain mechanisms and behavior in a variety of model organisms. The successful applicant will also benefit from our close collaboration with neuroscientists at the Center for Neural Science in the main NYU campus and from being part of a joint neuroscience graduate program that encompasses faculty at both campuses, as well as from interactions with basic and clinical departments in the NYU Grossman School of Medicine with a range of translational interests such as movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, neurodegeneration, developmental and psychiatric diseases, pain control and epilepsy. We are located in a brand-new state-of-the-art facility and host a rich array of scientific seminars and events that encourage a collaborative and intellectually stimulating scientific environment.

Candidates must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree and are expected to have a strong track record of research achievements documented by impactful publications. A history of NIH funding is expected of senior but not necessarily of junior applicants. The successful candidate will also be eager to contribute to strengthening our community through mentoring students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty.

All application materials should be submitted electronically. The following application components are required: (1) a cover letter that includes a description of your most significant research accomplishment(s), (2) your curriculum vitae, (3) a concise research statement no more than two pages in length that describes (a) your goals/vision for a research program at NYU Langone Health, and (b) your experience and qualifications that make you particularly well-suited to achieve those goals, and (4) the names and contact information of three referees.

Applications must be received by April 30, 2022; complete applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of recruiting and employment. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration without regard to race, color, gender, gender identity or expression, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, gender dysphoria, national origin, age, religion, disability, military and veteran status, marital or parental status, citizenship status, genetic information or any other factor which cannot lawfully be used as a basis for an employment decision. We require applications to be completed online.
