Basic Science Research Faculty Position

Department of Psychiatry

University of Maryland School of Medicine

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) at the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) is actively recruiting tenure track preclinical research scientists focused on addiction and addiction comorbidities. This is a unique opportunity to develop an innovative and interdisciplinary translational research program on addiction within a clinical department while participating in the larger University research consortia and training programs including the PhD training Program in Neuroscience (PIN). Potential candidates should complement established research programs and be able to collaborate with clinical treatment and research addiction programs within the department.  In addition to working within a highly collaborative research environment, the successful applicant also will be expected to participate in the educational and service missions of the department and UMSOM.

Ideal candidates will have an established research record related to addiction and its comorbidities, reflected by a strong publication profile and potential for extramural funding. Applicants must have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, and at least 3 years of postdoctoral training. Expected rank is Assistant Professor or higher, however, rank and tenure status is dependent on candidate’s qualifications. Candidates at Associate or Full Professor level should have an established federal grant profile. Candidates from underrepresented groups and diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Academic rank, tenure-track status, and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Questions may be directed to the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Todd Gould, MD, at tgould@som.umaryland.edu

Applicants should submit an application, statement of research interests and program vision, curriculum vitae, and the names of three to five references through the UMB Taleo system, job # 2200004S
