Postdoctoral Fellow in Systems Neuroscience Laboratory

Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience

Washington State University

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Kristen Delevich, in the Department of Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience (IPN) at Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman, WA.

Successful candidates will implement a multidisciplinary approach in mice to investigate the adolescent maturation of corticostriatal circuits and their relation to top-down control of goal-directed behavior.  Candidates with experience in slice electrophysiology, in vivo calcium imaging (fiber photometry and/or miniaturized microscopes), and rodent behavior will be given priority.  This is a full time, two-year funded position supported in part by the Tourette’s Association of America.

The Department of Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience (https://ipn.vetmed.wsu.edu/neuroscience/) is an academic unit in the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  International neuroscience faculty within the department form highly collaborative research units that study substance abuse, ingestive behavior, stress, and sleep neurobiology.  Thus, the candidate will have ample opportunities for collaboration and co-mentoring.  Postdocs can compete for both intramural and external research grants.  Furthermore, the department offers baccalaureate and doctoral degree programs in Neuroscience, in addition to postdoctoral training.  The department is housed in an award-winning, ultra-modern BSL-2 research facility on the Pullman campus of Washington State University, and it is equipped with state-of-the-art microscopy, imaging, electrophysiology, cell biology, and behavioral testing equipment.  Pullman is a college town located in the heart of the Palouse, on the Southeast border of Washington State, with easy access to innumerable outdoor recreation opportunities.  It has received accolades for highest quality of life, healthy community, safety, and green transportation.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience or a related field, strong written and oral communication skills, a demonstrated record of accomplishments, and less than 5 years of research experience since receipt of the doctoral degree. Salary will be commensurate with experience.  WSU provides health care packages to its trainees. Background check is required for this position.

Application is open until filled.  Applicants should submit their CV and cover letter stating their research interests and fit for the position as well as the names and contact information for three (3) references.  To apply submit all information as one document at https://hrs.wsu.edu/jobs/ for the Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Delevich lab located in Veterinary and Biomedical Research Building R-633.  For questions on the application process contact Becky Morton bmorton@wsu.edu .  For scientific questions, contact Dr. Kristen Delevich at kristen.delevich@wsu.edu .
