Research Assistant, COBRE Center for Nervous System Function

SUMMARY:

 

This individual is a member of the Behavior and Neuroimaging Core (BNC) of the COBRE Center for Nervous System Function. The primary purpose of the BNC is to facilitate the research of the COBRE Project Leaders and their research teams as well as other researchers affiliated with the Center. The Research Assistant assists with implementation of research protocols, quality assessment of neuroimaging data, training in the use of various hardware and software tools, and related tasks.

 

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 07/31/2023 which may be extended based upon available funding.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience

 

Required:  Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, engineering or related discipline.

 

Preferred: Master’s degree in science, engineering or related discipline.

 

1-2 years of related research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Background in cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging preferred.

 

Experience with programming or scripting preferred

Programming skills preferred.

 

Knowledge of neuroscience methods preferred.

 

Ability to work independently and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people with vastly different skills and training.

 

Ability to rapidly learn requisite skills.

Strong organizational skills.

 

Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.

 

 

 

BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION CHECK REQUIRED

 

In order to maintain 90% or greater universal vaccination rates on campus, all newly hired employees at Brown University must receive the final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine before they begin work, unless they are approved for a medical or religious exemption. Additionally, all employees must receive a COVID-19 booster shot no later than January 26, 2022, or within 30 days of becoming eligible. Within three days of the selected candidate's hire date, the employee must upload their vaccination card in Workday.
