Job Details

The Department of Pathology and Anatomy at the Eastern Virginia Medical School seeks an outstanding junior faculty researcher to join its Sleep Research team within the Center for Integrative Neuroscience and Inflammatory Diseases (CINID). The CINID includes highly collaborative investigators with strong programs in addiction, Alzheimer’s disease, atherosclerosis, HIV/SIV neuroimmunology, sleep, space neuroscience, and stress. It is comprised of multidisciplinary teams that tackle the challenges of modern biomedical research by focusing on fundamental mechanisms that mediate disease.

The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in expanding CINID’s sleep research program. We are particularly interested in individuals utilizing cutting-edge methods in electrophysiology, in vivo photometry, spatial biology, and/or immunology to explore the role of sleep in CINID focus areas (see https://www.evms.edu/research/centers_institutes_departments/center_for_integrative_neuroscience_and_inflammatory_diseases/). There will be exceptional opportunities for basic and translational collaborations with investigators in CINID and in other institutional research focus areas including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and women’s health.

Appointment will be a full time salaried, tenure track, faculty position at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR level. A demonstrated ability or high potential for obtaining sustained extramural funding and desire to work in a team science setting is required. All outstanding applicants will be fully considered.
