Faculty Positions in Neuroscience - University of Minnesota

Employer
Department of Neuroscience
Location
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Salary
Competitive Stipend and Benefits
Closing date
Feb 20, 2022

The University of Minnesota has launched a major initiative to establish a Medical Discovery Team focused on the development and application of cutting-edge optical technologies for neuroscience, such as in-vivo multiphoton stimulation and recording.  This multi-disciplinary team will be well-poised to map the detailed circuits that underlie sensation, perception and complex behaviors in the developing and mature brain (https://med.umn.edu/brain-science).

We currently seek candidates for tenure-track (Assistant Professor) or tenured (Associate or Full Professor) faculty positions who are using these new technologies to link neural circuits with behavior in any of the variety of animal model systems available, including rodents, marmosets and macaques.  Applicants who invent physical tools (optical or protein engineering) to probe brain function are also encouraged to apply.

The State of Minnesota has appropriated significant funds over the next eight to ten years for the University of Minnesota to create a world-class program and facilities in this area of optical imaging and brain science.  Newly constructed laboratory space and generous startup packages are available for successful applicants.  This optical imaging initiative will establish approximately six faculty members, including both experimental and theoretical groups, of which five have already been hired.

Candidates will have a PhD, MD/PhD or similar degree in neuroscience, biophysics, biomedical engineering or a related discipline.  If applying at Associate or Full professor level, applicants should also demonstrate notable scientific contributions and sustained extramural support.  Candidates must be U.S. citizens or be able to secure permanent residence status.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled, with applications submitted by January 31, 2022 receiving full consideration. Applications should include a curriculum vitae and a brief statement of research interests.  All applications should be submitted via the provided link:
