Staff Associate

Applications are invited for a Staff Associate position (immediate start) in the Department of Radiology’s Brain Health Imaging Institute at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. The successful candidate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Sudhin A. Shah, PhD on mechanisms underlying recovery of cognitive function following adult and pediatric brain injury. 

Cognitive dysfunction - the impaired ability to perceive, plan, reason and remember- is among the most common and debilitating consequences of brain injury. At present we lack the ability to predict how it will evolve after injury, and effectively treat it. Our research program aims to identify the individual specific neurobiological changes that underlie cognitive impairments following injury and use the knowledge to create prognostic models that predict how cognitive ability will change with time after injury, track spontaneous and intervened recovery and inform therapeutic interventions that aim to reduce impairment. We employ multimodal imaging tools - EEG, PET and MRI in our work. Projects include extracting passive and real-time correlates of natural language processing and attention in both pediatric and adult populations.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will collect data, curate and organize datasets, create and execute pipelines for processing neuroimaging and behavioral data, as well as assist with analyzing the results of image processing pipelines using advanced statistical techniques. They will be expected to aid other lab members in processing and analyzing neuroimaging data and writing papers.

Required:
BSc or MSc in engineering, computer science, computer systems engineering, physics, mathematics, cognitive neuroscience or related disciplines
Strong analytical, quantitative, and programming skills (e.g. Matlab/Python)
Strong motivation to learn new research methods
Proven ability to work independently
Excellent skills in written and spoken English

Preferred:
Expertise in statistical methods and analysis of neuroimaging data
Experience in designing and conducting experiments in cognitive neuroscience 
Experience with clinical research
