Laboratory of CNS Glia Biology and White Matter Repair
We are seeking for highly motivated individuals to join the Kang lab in the Department of Neural Sciences, Shriners Hospitals and Pediatric Research Center (also known as Center for Neural Repair and Rehabilitation) at Temple University.
Kang lab has numerous ongoing projects regarding myelin/ oligodendrocyte biology and pathophysiology in neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and Alzheimer’s disease and myelin repair after brain injury.
A newly funded position for a minimum two years is to examine genetically engineered oligodendrocyte progenitors (OPCs) in contexts of injury and diseases and conduct cell-specific RNA seq. The lab employs multiple lines of newly developed mutant mouse, imaging, and molecular and biochemical methods.
The candidate will be expected to possess superior communication skills and ability to write scientific reports. The qualified candidate must possess a master’s degree or Ph.D. in neuroscience or other basic sciences. Prior experience in one of the following areas is preferred: mouse brain surgery for injury, mouse models of neurodegeneration, single cell or bulk RNAseq data analysis, microglia phenotyping, primary neural cell culture, or electron microscopy.
