Job Details

The Biomedical Engineering Department at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is seeking applications for an Associate Chair to help lead the academic mission and goals of the department. This position will assist the department chair with the growth and diversity of our undergraduate and graduate programs as well as accreditation. We are seeking individuals with a strong interest and experience in the development of a research training and mentorship program for students. The position will be commensurate with the candidates experience and qualifications at the rank of Associate/Full Professor beginning the 22-23 academic year.

Biomedical Engineering at NJIT is ranked #6 as the best undergraduate BME program in the nation by Best College Reviews https://www.bestcollegereviews.org/top/bachelors-degrees-in- biomedical-engineering/. It offers a vibrant engineering community environment and exciting opportunities for research and education. NJIT is an R1 research institution that prioritizes undergraduate education and has made significant efforts to provide research opportunities to students through an Undergraduate Research and Innovation program https://centers.njit.edu/uri/programs/index.php. The BME department has a strong collaborative research program and a long track record of including students in research including the Center for Rehabilitation Robotics centers.njit.edu/rehabilitation, the Center for Injury Biomechanics, Materials and Medicine (centers.njit.edu/cibm3), and a state-of-the-art Motion Capture Lab, https://mocap.njit.edu/. NJIT also has a 10,000 square-foot Makerspace, a venue where students test ideas, visualize and construct projects, and apply complex technologies, machines, and materials used in state-of-the-art manufacturing https://www.njitmakerspace.com/.

Applicants with scientific and educational research programs are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in the administration of an engineering BS program and with ABET accreditation is strongly preferred. This faculty search will focus on the ability of the candidate to lead the department in the development of a research training and mentorship program for students.

This will include leading the effort in submission of appropriate training proposals with the full support of the department and Dean of the College.

Applications should be submitted online at: https://njit.csod.com/ux/ats/careersite/1/home/requisition/3537?c=njit
