Job Details

The University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute seeks to expand its outstanding multidisciplinary research team focused on determining the nature of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). We are casting a broad net to identify exceptional candidates who will pursue novel approaches to the neurobiological causes of ADRD. We welcome applicants from diverse perspectives, including systems and cellular neurobiology, aging, behavior, immunology, microbiome, and other fields.

The successful candidate will establish their lab in a brand new state-of-the-art preclinical research center whose focal point is a large, well-established marmoset colony to support translational research. The vivarium is adjacent to the laboratory space and can house ~400 marmosets. Core neuroimaging resources include customized 9.4T MRI, PET-CT, and two-photon microscopy, all capable of imaging awake, behaving animals, plus electrophysiology and behavioral testing rooms.

The position will integrate into the larger ADRD community at Pitt. Other groups include the mouse MODEL-AD program, the TREAT-AD Centers for Discovery of New Medicines, the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, and a vibrant Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Additional resources include the UPMC Clinical Genome Center, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, the Center for Biological Imaging, and the School of Computing and Information.

The appointment will be in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Applicants at all levels of advancement are welcome.  Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Biomedical Engineering or related areas, and have demonstrated excellence in preclinical research, including the development of animal models of neurodegenerative disease and their use to understand the neurobiological causes of ADRD. At least 3 years of postdoctoral research or its equivalent. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. To be considered, please upload a cover letter, CV, 1-page statement of research interests, PDFs of 2-3 recent publications, and contact information for three references.

Please apply to requisition # 21006947 in the Talent Center ( https://cfopitt.taleo.net/careersection/pitt_faculty_external/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en&portal=12100023232 ).
