Postdoctoral Position in Sensorimotor Neuroscience
We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position at Haskins Laboratories in the field of sensorimotor neuroscience. The lab, which is led by David Ostry and Paul Gribble, conducts research in human sensorimotor control and motor learning using speech production and arm movements as laboratory models. Our studies are largely focused on the role of sensory plasticity in motor learning. The work is funded by grants from the NIH (USA) and CIHR (Canada). The postdoc will be expected to take a leading role in the design, implementation, and analysis of experimental studies.
Our lab is outfitted with equipment for measuring and perturbing movements using robotic devices for both speech and upper limb movements. We have TMS/BrainSight, tDCS, and EEG systems to study the role of sensory and motor brain areas in motor learning and retention. We use the 3T MR scanners at the Yale Magnetic Resonance Research Center for studies using fMRI, DTI, and structural brain measurements. We have an EMMA magnetometer system and Optotrak for motion tracking.
Haskins Laboratories (https://haskinslabs.org), which is affiliated with Yale University, is an independent, international, multidisciplinary community of researchers focused on basic research. Haskins scientists include neuroscientists, physicists, engineers, psychologists, and linguists.
PhD in neuroscience or cognitive neuroscience/psychology, engineering/computer science, physics. Documented history of research productivity including published papers in peer-reviewed journals. Experience with one or more of MRI, TMS, EEG, human behavioural experiments. Computational skills including programming in languages such as MATLAB, C, R, Python, etc. Knowledge and expertise with modern statistical methods in data analysis.
Salary and benefits are based on NIH guidelines, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is funded for at least 2 years.
Interested candidates should email both PIs (firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com) and include a current CV, a brief cover letter, and contact information for three referees.
