The interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program at Loyola University New Orleans seeks a broadly trained neuroscientist for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship beginning in August 2022. The position is to be housed either in the Biology or Psychology department, depending on the hire’s area of expertise. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in neuroscience or closely related field. Particularly desirable are individuals with a background in neurophysiology, cellular and molecular neuroscience, or neuropsychology. The tenure-track position has a 3-3 course load, and candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to rigorous, innovative, and inclusive teaching at the undergraduate level. Courses to be taught may include an introductory neuroscience course, research methods, as well as other introductory and higher-level courses depending on the appointee’s expertise and needs of their home department. In addition to teaching responsibilities, colleagues are expected to advise undergraduate students, participate in department, college, and university committees, and maintain an active research program that engages undergraduate students.

Interested candidates should electronically submit the following materials in PDF form to resumes@loyno.edu:

  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness (such as a summary of teaching evaluations)
  • Summary of current and proposed research programs
  • A brief statement of your teaching philosophy
  • Three letters of reference (individually emailed by recommenders)

Loyola University New Orleans seeks a highly qualified, diverse applicant pool and especially encourages members of underrepresented groups to apply. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Please direct any questions to: Kate Yurgil (kyurgil@loyno.edu), Faculty Search Committee Chair and Director of the Neuroscience Program.
