Job Summary

The postdoctoral scholar will be involved in two NIH-funded research projects. Using behavioral testing and cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, these projects investigate the role of specific neuropeptide systems in subregions of the thalamic paraventricular nucleus and nucleus accumbent in ethanol drinking. The scholar will design and execute experiments, monitor laboratory animals and perform animal care duties, analyze data, prepare manuscripts for publication, present findings at conferences and other meetings, assist in the training of other laboratory members, and meet regularly with the mentor and other laboratory members. Applying for additional/fellowship funding will be supported but is not required.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Neuroscience or a related field
  • Must be comfortable handling rodents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with quantitative real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, stereotaxic surgery, and colony maintenance is preferred but not required

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table
  • Lifting demands up to 25lbs
